What's the difference between DWG and DXF?
DWG and DXF are both Autodesk drawing formats, but they serve different purposes: DWG is a binary, proprietary format that only a few programs can read in full, while DXF is an open, text-based exchange format accepted by practically every CAD, laser, and CNC program. Anyone who needs to work with a drawing outside AutoCAD usually converts it to DXF first.

Which DWG versions are supported?
The converter handles common AutoCAD DWG versions. Very new or very old format variants may occasionally fail to convert — in that case, just upload the file for a custom redraw instead.
Does the conversion stay true to scale?
Yes, geometry and dimensions are carried over unchanged. Layers, colors, and blocks are preserved as far as the DXF format allows.
What happens to my file after conversion?
Your DWG file and the resulting DXF file are deleted from our server immediately after conversion. We don't store or view the contents.
What's the difference between DWG and DXF?
DWG is Autodesk's native, binary drawing format, built primarily for AutoCAD itself. DXF is the openly documented, text-based exchange version of the same content, accepted by practically every other CAD, laser, and CNC program — which is why conversion is usually the first step before further processing.
Is the conversion really free, and is there a limit?
Yes, the conversion is free and requires no account. There's only an upper limit on file size and a rate limit against automated bulk access — neither matters for normal use.
